Report of database usage in 2008
USING OF NATURE OBSERVATIONS DATABASE IN 2008
In 2008, users submitted 2,245 observations to the Nature
Observations Database. 1,860 of them were made in 2008 and 385 in earlier years.
This map shows distribution of inserted observations in 2008.
By groups of species inserted observations divided as
follow (here are only TOP 10 of species groups ):
1) birds - 903 observations,
2) mammals - 454 observations,
3) butterflies - 380 observations,
4) vascular plants - 226 observations,
5) insects (not include butterflies) - 126 observations,
6) molluscs - 27 observations,
7) reptiles - 23 observations,
8) amphibians - 22 observations,
9) fungi - 13 observations,
10) fishes - 12 observations.
Observations of species, which are under nature
conservation in Estonia numbered 452. 21 of these were observations of
species under protection category I , 61 under protection category II and 370
under protection category III .
71 persons entered their observations to the Nature
Observations Database in 2008. 44 of them inserted three or more
observations and 23 of them inserted more than 10 observations.
By county: users entered more than 100 observations to
the Nature Observations Database from six counties: Harju (645), Põlva (368),
Rapla (342), Lääne (164), Pärnu (127) and Järva (116). From eight counties users
inserted more than 10 and less than 100 observations. No observations were
received from Hiiu county users in 2008.
Observations submitted to the database were more frequent
in spring and summer. The biggest number of inputs was in May (469),
followed by April (460), March (390), July (272) and June (221) (see the next
graph).
